Boat bridge between Blagoveshchensk and Heihe to be built in 2011
KHABAROVSK, August 8 (Itar-Tass) -- A boat bridge across the River
Amur to link Russia's Blagoveshchensk and China's Heihe will be built in
2011, a source in the Amur region government said.
"It is planned that the boat bridge will be opened from December till
May and will help expand the period of extensive winter cargo and
passenger traffic between the two cities," said Vitaly Peskov, a deputy
minister of economic development of the Amur region. "The crossing will be
mounted shortly after the rive freezers over and the pontoons will be
removed in early May. Both sides are interested in the project. In summer,
traffic between the two cities will be by river boats, as usual."
