DPRK Affected by Typhoon-9


Pyongyang, August 8 (KCNA) -- The west coastal areas of Korea have been affected by typhoon-9.
According to information released by the Central Meteorological Research Institute, the typhoon has brought strong winds of 17 meters per second and much rain to South Hwanghae Province from 9 p.m. Sunday.
North Hwanghae Province has been battered by 15m/s winds and Nampho city by 11m/s from around 00:00 Monday.
With the typhoon moving northward, North and South Phyongan Provinces are likely to be hit by a heavy rain from Monday night.
The West Sea of Korea is expected to see 10-15m/s southeast winds and 4-6m waves and some coastal areas are likely to be visited by 50-70cm tidal waves.
