DM Blames Foreign Forces for Insecurity in Afghanistan

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Defense Minister took the foreign forces deployed in Afghanistan responsible for insecurities in the war-torn country, and warned that insecurities in Afghanistan will remain unsolved as long as foreign forces remain in the country.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran has announced several times that the security of some regional countries is attributed to the absence of US troops in these countries," Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi told reporters at the end of the cabinet meeting in Tehran on Sunday.

Asked about the crash of a US helicopter with 31 soldiers on board in Afghanistan, defense minister noted that the presence of foreign troops not only creates problems for the people of the region, it will also create problems for the occupiers.

"Those countries which send soldiers to other countries are themselves subject to casualties," Vahidi added.

He pointed out that the people of the Middle East and North Africa can themselves maintain and guarantee their security.

Iran's has always called the western powers' military buildup in the regional countries as the root cause of the current security crisis in the region, and asked the regional states not to pay the costs of the world powers' economic meltdown by purchasing their arms and military equipment.

Iran also urged for a regional approach towards the settlement of problems in the region, and called for the withdrawal of the alien forces from the regional states.
