Nissan launches 3rd-generation Cube in S. Korea

SEOUL, Aug. 9 (Yonhap) -- Nissan Motor Co. on Tuesday launched its third-generation Cube mini multipurpose vehicle (MPV) in the South Korean market, looking to attract young drivers with its distinct design.
The new Cube has a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that can produce 120 horsepower at 6,000 rotations per minute and generate 16.8 kilogram-meters of torque.
The Japanese carmaker said that the latest Cube has a fuel economy of 14.6 kilometers on a liter of fuel, with the more expensive 1.8SL model to have such features as 16-inch alloy wheels, auto air-conditioning and built-in navigation with three-dimensional maps.
The car with the distinct box-like shape can be ordered in exterior colors of white pearl, chocolate, scarlet red, chrome silver, sapphire black and Caribbean blue.
The 1.8SL model has been priced at 24.90 million won (US$22,800), with the less expensive 1.8S set at 21.90 million won including taxes, Nissan said.
The Cube was first unveiled in 1998 with the second generation MPV reaching consumers in 2002.
