Ingushetia may soon join North Caucasus tourism cluster project

PYATIGORSK, August 9 (Itar-Tass) - Ingushetia may soon join the
project for the development of a tourism cluster in the North Caucasus.
The issue will be discussed in September, when the concept of a special
tourism economic zone in Ingushetia's Jeirakh region is presented to the
Ministry for Economic Development.
Russian president's envoy to the North Caucasian Federal District
Alexander Khloponin gave respective instructions to the government of
Ingushetia. The concept will give information on prospects for a growth of
tourist flow in the region, financial feasibility study of transport and
social infrastructures of the future economic zone, information on
forecasted expenses and sources of financing, as well as information on
potential investors.
The deputy director general of the Resorts of North Caucasus (KSK)
resort management company, Yuri Karpenko, said a decision of the Russian
government is necessary to include Ingushetia in the North Caucasian
tourism cluster.
As the operator of the tourism cluster project, KSK is ready to begin
work in Ingushetia, he said. "The republic has good potentials," he
stressed.
Five ski resorts of world class are to be built in the North Caucasus
by 2020.The length of ski-runs will be 898 kilometres, the number of
chairlifts - 179. Hotels will be ready to accommodate 89,000 tourists and
the cluster will be able to receive daily 150,500 people. Over 330,000
jobs are to be created in the region within the framework of the project.
