Incidents in Syria concern for everyone, Turkish govt spokesman says
ANKARA (A.A) - August 8, 2011 - The spokesman for the Turkish government has said, "incidents in Syria concern both the region and the whole world, not only Turkey and Syria. Therefore, it is impossible to expect the U.S. Department of State and the European states to remain indifferent about the recent developments."
The Council of Ministers convened under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Following the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister and spokesman for the government Bulent Arinc said that Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu would travel to Syria on August 9.
"Turkey wants that people in this region should live together in tranquillity and peace as the nations of the same civilization and the same geography. Davutoglu will explain Turkey's wish and ideas to Syrian authorities. Incidents in Syria concern both the region and the whole world, not only Turkey and Syria. Therefore, it is impossible to expect the U.S. Department of State and the European states to remain indifferent about the recent developments. We think that the United Nations and the international community should take action," he told reporters at a press conference.
