AA correspondent enters Hama, reports situation in city
HAMA (A.A) - August 9, 2011 - Anadolu Agency (AA) reporter Ali Demir entered the city of Hama where the Syrian army has been launching assault for weeks.
The AA correspondent reported that intense security measures had been taken inside and around Hama in north of Syria and a number of tanks had been deployed around the city as well as Idlib city's town of Maarrat al Numan.
Demir reported that there were soldiers on roofs of many houses in Hama and many buildings in the city suffered damage in heavy artillery fire, and balconies and roofs of many houses had collapsed.
There were military check-points at the entrance to Hama and Maarrat al Numan and tanks had been deployed around them, and some tanks were deployed at olive gardens, the AA correspondent reported.
Demir added that there were military check-points also at the entrance to capital city of Damascus and every motor vehicle entering and exiting the city was searched there.
