SEOUL, Aug. 10 (Yonhap) -- Torrential rains have caused more than 2.4 trillion won (US$2.23 billion) in property damage in South Korea over the past five years, the national anti-disaster agency said Wednesday.
The National Emergency Management Agency said in a report to a ruling party lawmaker that the nation suffered a total of 2.443 trillion won worth of damage from torrential rains between 2006 and 2010, an amount seven times higher than 346 billion won in damage left by typhoons.

Heavy snow came third as natural disasters claimed serious property damage in South Korea worth 95.3 billion won during the period.
It was followed by high waves with 69.9 billion won and strong winds with 29.2 billion won, according to the report.
