Usain Bolt to arrive next week for world championships

SEOUL, Aug. 10 (Yonhap) -- Usain Bolt of Jamaica, dubbed the fastest man on earth, will arrive in South Korea next Tuesday for the upcoming World Championships in Athletics, organizers said.
Bolt will be part of the Jamaican advance team that will land in Daegu for the Aug. 27-Sept. 4 championships, according to organizers.
Bolt holds the world records in both the men's 100 meters, with 9.58 seconds, and in the 200 meters, with 19.19. Both marks were set at the previous world championships in 2009 in Berlin.
He also won the 2008 Olympic gold medals in those two events plus in the 4x100m relay.
This year, Bolt has battled the effects of back and Achilles' tendon injuries sustained in 2010. His season's best time in 100節? is only 9.91. He does own the fastest 200節? time this year with 19.86.
Bolt has admitted he may not be physically ready to break world records in Daegu, but he may have an easier path to the top than expected. Tyson Gay, his rival from the U.S., will not be in Daegu because of a hip injury, and fellow Jamaican Asafa Powell, who owns the best 100節? time this year with 9.78, pulled out of a race last week with groin pains.
Jamaica, a sprint power house, finished second to the U.S. in Berlin with seven gold medals. Shelly-Ann Fraser in the women's 100節? plus the men's and women's 4x100節? relay squads are considered medal favorites.
