Lawmaker Underscores Iran's Global Clout

TEHRAN (FNA)- A senior Iranian MP stressed Iran's influential role in resolving international issues, and said alien powers need Iran to solve their problems in the region.
Speaking to FNA, member of the parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Mehdi Mehdizadeh said that foreign forces in the region know that their problems in Iraq and Afghanistan will not be resolved without Iran.

"And this indicates the Islamic Iran's high international credibility," the lawmaker added.

"Today, those countries that didn't want to have relations with us now have no way out but establishing relations with our country since they are witnessing their nations' strong relations with us," Mehdizadeh reiterated.

Earlier in May, Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi underlined the country's political power, and said Tehran plays a key role in regional and international developments.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran is viewed as a developed country in international political interactions," Salehi told reporters at the time, and added, "This role might upset certain countries, but it is a reality."
