Kuwait Red Crescent increases relief efforts in Somalia

(KUNA) - The Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) has stepped up its efforts in Somalia for a more efficient transport of relief aid to drought-affected regions of the country.
Food relief has been distributed to thousands of families in Mogadishu's Badbado refugee camp, head of the KRCS, Musaed Al-Enezi said in a statement.
The food distribution to 5,000 families was carried out by a KRCS team in coordination with the Somali Relief Agency.
KRCS has ensured the operation moves swiftly, for the aid to reach those in need in the quickest time possible, Al-Enezi said.
On the conditions at the camp he said, families have had to walk long distances on foot to reach the camp, as their bodies have weakened due to the extreme drought conditions and scarcity of food.
