Minsk hopes for success of meeting of Union State Council of

MINSK, August 15 (Itar-Tass) -- Minsk hopes a Moscow meeting of the
Council of Ministers of the Russian-Belarus Union State due on Monday will
bring about good results and open up new perspectives.
"I think the meeting of the Union State's Council of Ministers will be
successful and will yield far-reaching plans," Belarusian Prime Minister
Mikhail Myasnikovich said at a meeting with state secretary of the Union
State Pavel Borodin ahead of his Moscow visit.
According to the Belarusian prime minister, the agenda of the
forthcoming meeting of the Council of Ministers includes long-term plans.
"It is good that the agenda targets long prospects in the areas of science
and research cooperation, and new technologies," he noted.
The meeting's agenda features 18 points, all of them have been
elaborated in detailed by corresponding agencies and ministries of the two
countries, Borodin said. "We will discuss issues of open-cut transport. A
joint corporation is needed," he said and added that there are no plans to
merge Russia's KAMAZ and Belarus' MAZ truck manufacturers.
Apart from it, it is planned to discuss prospects for the development
of the medical industry, including creating oncological centres for
children.
The Union States' Council of Ministers will also adopt an updated list
of top-priority research and innovation programs and projects.
Thus, experts from the two countries have drafted a new Union program
for the development of space and land-based tools for transmitting
information on remote sensing of the earth (Monitoring SG) for 2012-2016.
The subject was in the focus of attention at a Friday meeting between
Myasnikovich and head of Russia's Space Agency Vladimir Popovkin. "We have
drafted a new program for 2012-2016. The document has been practically
squared both in Belarus, and in Russia. We hope during the forthcoming
meeting you will raise these issues so that the document might be signed
by the yearend," Popovkiv said.
According to the press service of the Belarusian head of government,
special attention will be focused on the development of tourism within the
Union State. It is expected the Belarus will propose the idea of a common
entry visa.
