While carrying out reform, Russian police keeps control of situation

MURMANSK, August 15 (Itar-Tass) -- Russian police have managed to
carry put a reform without losing control of the crime situation in the
country, Interior Minister Rashid Nurgaliyev said at a police conference
in Murmansk on Sunday.
According to the minister the overall number of crimes registered in
the first six months of 2011 decreased by 9.4 percent compared with the
same period last year, while the number of high crimes went down by 13
percent.
"I think we have managed to carry out a reform and concurrently keep
control of the situation. In this context, it is worth to say that all
police units across the country had to do a lot of work in all directions,
first of all in what concerns investigation into crimes," Nurgaliyev said.
In the first six months of the current year, police agencies finished
investigations into 570,000 crimes, established guilt of more than 710,000
persons, including in cases of previous years, he noted.
