Khammouane; over 12,000 ha of farmland damaged by Nock-Ten

VIENTIANE,AUG.(KPL)- The Provincial Agriculture and Forestry Service of Khammouane on Tuesday, 9 August, has estimated that over 12,000 ha has been flooded due to typhoon Nock-Ten.
Nock-Ten has caused severe destruction to crops in six districts including Thakhek, Mahasay,Nongbok, Hinboun, Khounekham and Boualapha
More than 1,200 ha of rice farmland and 112 ha of fruit plantation in 49 villages in Thakhek district has been flooded.
Over 1,400 ha of rice field and 194 ha of fruit plantation in 41 villages of Mahasay district has been flooded with 10 cattle killed in the natural disaster.
Nong bok district has over 2,900 ha of rice field and 315 ha of fruit plantation as well as 21 irrigation systems flooded and destroyed by floods.
Over 1,500 cattle and 4,200 poultry have been killed in flood and 3,000 ha of rice field have been reportedly damaged by flood in seventy nine villages of Hinboune and Khounkham.
Boualapha has said over 3,500 ha of rice field in the district had been flooded.
