Moscow court to read out sentence to former police chief accused of
MOSCOW, August 15 (Itar-Tass) -- The Moscow city court on Monday will
pass a sentence to the former head of Moscow's Zelenograd district
investigations administration and former deputy chief of Zelenograd police
Dmitry Matveyev and lawyer from the Protection Bar Association Yevgeny
Rubtsov, who are accused of extorting one million roubles.
According to investigators, in November 2009, Matveyev extorted one
million roubles from a man accused of fraud. Rubtsov acted as a mediatory,
for a fee of 200,000 roubles. He met with the man at a detention centre
and tried to talk him to pay the money.
On January 27, 2010, Matveyev and Rubtsov were arrested red-handed by
officers from Moscow police in-house security department.
