First fish processing plant commissioned in Russia's Extreme North

GORNO-ALTAISK, August 15 (Itar-Tass) -- A first ever fish processing
plant has been commissioned in Russia's Extreme North, the press service
of the government of the republic of Yakutia reported on Monday.
The Chokurdakhsky plant in Yakutia will process up to 15,000 tons of
fish a day. The plant will sell its products mainly outside the republic.
Its exports will include broad whitefish, muksun, Arctic cisco, Siberian
white salmon, and vendace.
According to the plan's executive director Mikhail Gabyshev, the
facility was built within a period of three months. A total of 600 tons of
equipment have been installed.
The plant's trade agent is LLC Sogda-BCE Oil-Company, which will sell
fresh fish to restaurants in the United States.
