JAKARTA AIRPORT CUSTOMS FOILS COCAINE SMUGGLING ATTEMPT
Tangerang, Banten, Sept 18 (ANTARA) - Customs officers at Jakarta's Soekarno-Hatta International Airport on Thursday foiled an attempt to smuggle 100 grams of cocaine and a few grams of marijuana from California into the country, a customs official said.
"The cocaine was hidden in a package covered by a declaration which said the package contained compact disks and documents," Eko Darmanto, a customs security official said.
"So far, we have detained only one suspect, an Indonesian named Carli Pangestu (30)," he said.
Customs officers who examined the package found more than 100 grams of cocaine in it, and several grams of marijuana in another, smaller package.
A further investigation into the case with the participation of the police's narcotics drug unit is underway.
