Kia Motors recalls 935 Morning compact cars on faulty fuel meter

SEOUL, Aug. 15 (Yonhap) -- Kia Motors Corp., South Korea's second-largest automaker affiliated with Hyunda Motor Co., will voluntarily recall over 900 cars on faulty fuel flow meter that measures the amount of fuel left in the car, the transportation ministry said Monday.
Vehicles subject to the recall are 935 Morning compact cars produced between April 19 and July 29 this year, according to the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs.
"The fuel flow meter inside the fuel tank may malfunction when it touches the wall of the fuel tank and say there is still fuel left when the tank is, in fact, empty, and thus leading to a sudden stoppage of the car," the ministry said in a news statement.
Owners of cars subject to the recall may take their vehicles to any Kia Motors service center throughout the country from Tuesday for free repairs, it said.
