Friendship medal conferred on World Bank official
(KPL) A Friendship medal was presented on Tuesday, 16 September to Mr. Ian Porter, Director-General of World Bank in South East-Asian region, including Laos, in recognition of his contribution to the finance sector in Laos.
Planning and Investment Minister Soulivong Daravong, representing the Lao Government, presented the medal to Mr. Ian Porter. A number of senior officials from ministries concerned were also on hand.
Mr. Ian Porter has been appointed to take charge of the World Bank supported projects in Laos from 2001 to 2008.
During that period, he has actively worked to moblise US$ 357,922,133.5 from the World Bank to implement the 28 social-economic development projects in Laos.
