Iranian FM Denies Apprehension of PKK's No.2
TEHRAN (FNA)- The Iranian Foreign Ministry on Tuesday dismissed earlier reports that Iranian security forces have arrested the No. 2 man of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehman-Parast made the announcement in his weekly press conference in Tehran on Tuesday.
Earlier, the state-run Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT) aired a story claiming that Murat Karayilan had been captured in the Kandil Mountains in northern Iraq, where the PKK is based, by the Iranian security forces.
"Sources say separatist terrorist organization leader Murat Karayilan has been captured by Iran. However, this hasn't been confirmed by any officials," TRT reported.
However, PKK-affiliated news agencies denied the reports.
