Putin to visit Zhukovsky air show.
MOSCOW, August 17 (Itar-Tass) - Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin
on Wednesday will visit the 10th International Aviation and Space Salon
MAKS-2011, which opened in Zhukovsky near Moscow. The government press
service reported that he will address there the participants and guests of
the air show, as well as will get familiarised with the exposition of
Russian and foreign manufacturers of aerospace equipment.
A number of agreements and commercial contracts are expected to be
signed in the presence of Putin. In addition, the head of government will
watch demonstration performances of aerobatic teams.
The International Aviation and Space Salon in Zhukovsky is one of the
world's largest air forums the goal of which is to demonstrate the latest
achievements of Russian and world aviation industry, creating the
conditions for establishing business contacts and development of
industrial cooperation.
"The MAKS air show is notable among the world's major air shows for
its colourful and busy flight and exposition program," the press service
noted. "At MAKS-2011 the participants and guests of the air show will be
able for the first time to watch the flight of Russia's PAK-FA (T-50)
fifth-generation fighter jet that is planned to be adopted for service in
the army in 2016."
A new Boeing 787 Dreamliner will also be for the first time
demonstrated to the Russian public. Its design and development was made
with the participation of Russian experts. At present, Russian companies
make some components for the Dreamliner plane. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner
is a long-range, mid-size wide-body, twin-engine jet airliner developed by
Boeing Commercial Airplanes. It seats 210 to 330 passengers, depending on
the variant. Boeing states that it is the company's most fuel-efficient
airliner and the world's first major airliner to use composite materials
for most of its construction.
A bright premiere at MAKS-2011 will be the first in Russia
demonstration of the biggest passenger aircraft A-380 of the Airbus
manufacturer. The exhibition also displays the world's largest passenger
and cargo aircraft An-124 Ruslan, Tupolev Tu-160 and the legendary Tu-144.
Planes of the US Air Force are again taking part in the air show this
year, after a four-year interval.
