Minister urges police officers to be more open to society.
MOSCOW, August 18 (Itar-Tass) -- Interior Minister Rashid Nurgaliyev
urged Russian police officers to be more open to society.
"Why are we often afraid of speaking about the incidents that occur
among our ranks? People learn about them from the press, but we keep
silent," Nurgaliyev said at a meeting with the staff of the Main
Department of the Interior Ministry for Moscow on Wednesday, August 17.
When people do not know what is happening within the police, they
"start thinking that we cover up [law offender] and indulge in corporate
inactivity. It's hard, but we must be the first to speak about our
troubles. It would be fairer this way," he said.
