Customs logistic terminal to be built at RF-China border in 2012

ULAN-UDE, August 18 (Itar-Tass) -- A major customs and logistic
terminal will be constructed in 2012 close to the Zabaikalsk-Manchuria
international border crossing station for vehicles. It will speed up
processing of cargo, which crosses the border through the station.
"The terminal will offer a full cycle of customs control of goods,
which will lower cost of their further transportation inside Russia's
territory," press service of Trans-Baikalia's Customs said on Thursday.
The federal customs service confirmed the construction of the terminal
complied with the concept to relocate customs control stations closer to
the state borders.
The new terminal, which will consist of a complex of buildings and
facilities, will occupy an area of 20 hectares. It will have a temporary
warehouse, a parking for 300 vehicles, weighting equipment, a warehouse of
fridges and freezers with various temperature options, office buildings, a
complex of a hotel and restaurant, hostel for specialists. The terminal's
projected throughput capacity is about 300 trucks a day. The cost of the
project is not available as yet.
The Zabaikalsk international border crossing station for vehicles
together with the railway station of the same name make the biggest
terrestrial 'port' at the Russian-Chinese border, which serves about 60
percent of the two countries' trade turnover.
