Lee to name former senior prosecutor as senior civil affairs secretary
SEOUL, Aug. 19 (Yonhap) -- President Lee Myung-bak has decided to name Cheong Chin-young, a former chief of the Incheon District Prosecutor's Office, as his senior civil affairs secretary, an official said Friday.
Cheong, 52, will succeed Kwon Jae-jin, who took office as justice minister last week.
Cheong was one of the two candidates whom Lee considered for the post, along with Kim Hoe-sun, a former senior prosecutor who also served as a deputy director of the National Intelligence Service in 2008-2009, a presidential official said.
The decision will be formally announced later in the day, he said.
Cheong became a prosecutor after passing the bar exam in 1981. He has since served in various posts, including chief of the Jeju District Prosecutor's Office and the Incheon District Prosecutor's Office.
