Ingush police officer gunned down.
NAZRAN, August 19 (Itar-Tass) - Unidentified assailants shot and
killed commander of the police battalion for Ingushetia's Malgobek
district Savarbek Matiyev late on Thursday, an official at the republic's
Interior Ministry told Itar-Tass.
The attackers fired on a private house in the town of Malgobek where
Matiyev lived at around 23:00, Moscow time. Matiyev was killed outright,
police said.
A group of investigators is working at the scene. Police have launched
a manhunt for the killers.
