Iranian Youths Snatch 2 Gold Medals in Asian Wushu Championship

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran's wushu team won two gold medals on the second day of the 6th Asian Youth Wushu Championship in Shanghai.
On the same day, Iranian wushu athletes also won one silver and seven bronze medals.

Taher Qassemi and Sepideh Shakerian earned the two gold medals for the Iranian team in taolu section.

Qassemi stood first with 29.2 points while his rivals from Hong Kong and Malaysia claimed the second and third spots respectively.

Shakerian grabbed the other gold medal for the Islamic Republic while her Vietnamese opponent stood second and an athlete from Myanmar secured the third place.

Shakerian also won a bronze medal for Iran earlier on Friday.

Iran's Zahra Kiyani bagged the only silver medal for the team, and Amirhossein Soltani, Majid Mousavi, Mehdi Mokhtarpour, Maryam Esmati, Nafiseh Pourganji, and Marjaneh Hosseinpour all won bronze medals.

Eleven Iranian wushu athletes meet their rivals in Talou (forms) and Sanda (sparring) sections of the event on Sunday.

More than 400 wushu athletes from 22 countries are competing in the Asian Wushu Championship in China.
