Russian FM to visit El Salvador

MEXICO CITY, August 22 (Itar-Tass) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei
Lavrov is to visit El Salvador on Monday. His visit will strengthen
relations between El Salvador and Russia.
"The forthcoming visit of the Russian foreign minister is very
important for developing bilateral cooperation," a representative of the
El Salvadoran Foreign Ministry told Itar-Tass by telephone.
During his trip Sergei Lavrov will hold talks with El Salvadoran
Foreign Minister Hugo Martinez. An agreement that will lay down judicial
and legal foundation for relations and cooperation between the two
countries is to be signed. The two foreign ministers will also discuss
prospects for opening a Russian embassy in San Salvador.
Sergei Lavrov and Hugo Martinez will participate in the opening of the
Russia-El Salvador forum of entrepreneurs.
"One of the main tasks of this meeting is to strengthen commercial and
investment ties and add dynamics to their development," the El Salvadoran
Foreign Ministry said.
It's the first time that the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry is
visiting El Salvador since the two countries established diplomatic
relations in 1992.
El Salvador will be the first leg of Lavrov's Latin American tour,
which will also take him to Peru and Venezuela.
