Uzbekistan, S Korea to seal contracts worth $4 bln.

TASHKENT, August 23 (Itar-Tass) - Uzbekistan and South Korea will seal
several contracts exceeding 4 billion dollars during South Korean
President Lee Myung-bak's visit to Tashkent.
According to the local media, the contracts envision the development
of the Surgil gas field near the Aral Sea and the construction of a gas
chemical plant.
"These projects will be the most large-scale ones in South
Korea-Uzbekistan cooperation," the media reported.
The two countries are also expected to sign an agreement on
modernization of IT-infrastructure of the Republican Stock Exchange
"Tashkent".
According to the Uzbek state statistics committee, in January-June the
two countries' trade reached 780 million dollars, up by 37 percent as
against the same period of 2010.
Uzbekistan's export to South Korea comprised 81 million dollars and
import - 699 million dollars.
Lee Myung-bak arrived in the Uzbek capital on Tuesday at the
invitation of his Uzbek counterpart Islam Karimov to discuss stronger
bilateral cooperation and pressing regional and international problems.
