Lao Airlines to fly Vientiane-Singapore flights in 3 months

Vientiane,aug.(KPL)- The Lao Airlines has planned to open its first flights between Vientiane and Singapore in November, said the Lao Airlines Marking Manager, Mr. Sitthideth Douangsitthi.
The introduction of the routes is aimed at increasing international flights for the Lao Airlines and to meet the increasing demand of airborne visitors.
The Airlines will fly three flights a week on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday and the initial fare is 2.9 million kip (approx. USD 362).
In order to ensure adequate flights, Mr. Sitthideth said, the Airlines has decided to purchase two new airbus ‘A320s’, each has 142 passenger seats.
“The first plane will arrive in Vientiane in October and the second one in November this year,” he said. The planes are also to replace some ‘ATRs’ which are old and flying some international routes.
In addition, Lao Airlines is conducting a study into the possibility of opening flights for Vientiane-Guangzhou (China), Vientiane-Seoul (Korea) flights. The Airlines will reportedly open such flights early next year, according to Mr. Sitthideth.
The number of foreign air passengers in Laos has increased from around one million in 2006 to almost three million in 2010. Most of them are from France, Germany, Australia and England.
