Daewoo Shipbuilding wins US$280 mln deal

SEOUL, Aug. 24 (Yonhap) -- Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co. said Wednesday that it has won a US$280 million deal to build a floating storage and regasification vessel. Under the deal with Excelerate Energy of the U.S., the South Korean shipbuilder will deliver the vessel by the first quarter of 2014, the company said. The vessel will have a daily processing capacity of 22.5 million cubic meters of gas, the shipbuilder said. Daewoo Shipbuilding has won deals valued at $8.94 billion so far this year to build 40 ships, achieving 81.3 percent of its yearly order target of $11 billion. Shares of Daewoo Shipbuilding were trading at 25,500 won on the Seoul bourse as of 11:00 a.m., up 0.59 percent.
