Kremlin hopes for deeper political dialogue with N Korea
ULAN-UDE, August 24 (Itar-Tass) - The Kremlin hopes for strengthening
a political dialogue with North Korea after Kim Jong Il's visit to Russia,
a Kremlin official told Itar-Tass on Wednesday.
"High on the talks' agenda are stronger political dialogue,
cooperation among relevant ministries and agencies and expansion of
humanitarian and interregional contacts," he said.
"The high-level talks are aimed at becoming an important stage for
further development of multifaceted contacts and exchanges between our
countries, which is stipulated by provisions of the 2000 interstate treaty
and complies with the spirit of agreements reached during the
Russian-North Korean summits in 2000 and in 2002, the Moscow Declaration
in particular," the official said. "The tenth anniversary of this document
was marked in August."
Dmitry Medvedev and Kim Jong Il began talks at the Sosnovy Bor closed
military base near Ulan-Ude.
