Iran Ups Oil Exports to S. Korea by 60%
TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran has boosted exports of crude oil to South Korea by over 60% in July compared with the same period last year, a news report said.
South Korea's National Oil Corporation imported 7.364 million barrels of crude in July 2011, reflecting an increase of about 2.8 million barrels compared to the corresponding figure for the previous year.
The figure also indicated a 365,000-barrel hike of oil imports from Iran against the month of June.
According to the report, the Islamic Republic was the fourth largest oil supplier to the Asian country after Saudi Arabia (26.099 million barrels), Kuwait (10.618 million barrels), and the United Arab Emirates (8,109 million barrels) in July.
South Korea imported a total of 78.294 million barrels of crude oil in the aforementioned period, a 13.5 percent rise against the corresponding period a year earlier.
Earlier reports also said that the volume of China's oil imports from Iran has witnessed a remarkable increase despite the US pressure on Iran's energy sector.
China's Sinopec Corp. is importing around 90,000 barrels a day of a super light crude from Iran, 40 percent more than previously reported.
Sinopec is taking the South Pars condensate from the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) under a term deal that started in January, a main factor behind the rise in China's crude oil imports from Iran in the first half of the year, the report added earlier this month.
