KEPCO wins $100 mln deal from India

SEOUL, Aug. 25 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's state-run Korea Electric Power Corp. (KEPCO) said Thursday it has clinched a US$100 million deal to repair and modernize electrical power grids in India.
The deal entails seven separate projects, two of which, worth $30 million, were solely awarded to the South Korean company. The rest went to a joint venture formed by KEPCO and India's Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Ltd.
Under the deal, the companies will also supply all necessary parts to replace or repair power grids in India's Madhya Pradesh state by February 2013.
"The engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) project in India will be the start of our advance into other Southeast Asian countries," the company said in a press release.
