Kolon inks preliminary deal to build CNG stations in Kazakhstan
SEOUL, Aug. 25 (Yonhap) -- Kolon Group, a South Korean chemical and construction conglomerate, said Thursday that it has signed a preliminary deal with a Kazakh firm to build compressed natural gas (CNG) stations there.
Under the US$250 million deal with the state-run KazTransGaz, Kolon will build 100 CNG stations across major Kazakh cities by 2015, the group said.
The two sides will establish a joint venture for the project, Kolon said.
In January this year, Kolon also said it will spend $83 million over the next four years to build 50 CNG stations in Uzbekistan.
Kolon's moves are part of the chemical conglomerate's attempt to expand its global energy businesses.
