First batch of Russian flour sent to Indonesia
BARNAUL, August 25 (Itar-Tass) -- The first batch of Russian flour - -
about 400 tonnes was sent to Indonesia. Russian millers didn't supply
their produce to the quickly growing market of this Asian country before.
As ITAR-TASS learnt at the administration of the Altai Territory on
Thursday, which came out as a mediator in the conclusion of a contract,
the cargo with Altai flour is expected to arrive in the ports of Jakarta,
Belawan and Panjang from September 9 to September 18. The concern
Altaiskiye Melnitsy (Altai Mills), which unites the region's leading grain
processors, is engaged in supplies of flour in accordance with a contract
singed with Indonesia's Global Agri Sejahtera.
Flour is being supplied to Indonesia under the trade mark Aleika
enriched by a vitamin-mineral complex. In January 2011, the concern
Altaiskiye Melnitsy was certified according to the Indonesian standards.
"The structure of consumption has sharply changed in Indonesia. We
began to consume more bread than rice. We need flour, and the demand for
it is very high," ambassador of Indonesia to Russia Hamid Awaluddin said
during his visit to the Altai Territory in April.
Indonesia ranks fourth in the world according to the number of the
population (around 240 million people). Turkey, Sri Lanka and Australia
are the main suppliers of flour to the Indonesian market. Indonesia
annually imports some one million tonnes of flour.
