(Daegu Athletics) First two medals to be awarded on Day 1 at world championships

DAEGU, Aug. 27 (Yonhap) -- The 13th World Championships in Athletics will kick off here Saturday, with the opening ceremony scheduled for 7 p.m. But the first medal will be decided in the morning in the women's marathon, which starts at 9 a.m.
   South Korea is seeking a medal in the marathon team event, which combines the three fastest times. But the team event is not an official competition and medals won't count toward the standings.
   The only other final on Saturday is the women's 10,000m, scheduled for 9 p.m. A trio of Kenyan runners, Sally Kipyego, Vivian Cheruiyot and Linet Masai, will be battling for the title.
