Election in Abkhazia successful in all senses - Kosachyov

SUKHUM, August 27 (Itar-Tass) -- The State Duma's observer Konstantin
Kosachev believes the elections in Abkhazia was valid and successful in
terms of organization, as well as their socio-political significance.
"Voting took place in all areas without exception, without
provocations, clashes and conflicts that might impede the will of the
citizens," said Kosachev after the last polling station closed. He
stressed a very high voter turnout. Kosachyov said that the delegation of
the Federal Assembly of Russia had visited nearly 100 polling stations.
He particularly stressed the attitude of observers from the candidates
to each other, which was very important.
"In this sense, the CEC has done a good job, which definitely worked
for the state and the people of Abkhazia, and not for some individual
contenders. The election teams of all candidates had prepared
well-qualified team of observers," said Kosachyov.
As for the counting of votes, he said, and this process was open and
democratic.
