Abkhazia takes one more step along path of democracy - Pochinok

SUKHMUM, August 27 (Itar-Tass) -- Abkhazia has taken another step
along the path of democratic development, a member of the Federation
Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Alexander
Pochinok, said about the results of the presidential election in Abkhazia.
"We watched all stages of preparations for the elections, which proved
to be quite remarkable," said the Russian representative. He noted the
high civic consciousness of voters.
"Maybe the outcome for many may be unexpected, but it is important to
ensure they should accept the will of the people. There was tight control
by observers, and we are confident that the results will be objective,"
Pochinok said. In his view, "the elections were perfect."
