Supreme Leader Grants Clemency to Prisoners
TEHRAN (FNA)- Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei pardoned a number of the country's prisoners.
Tehran's Public and Revolutionary Courts Prosecutor Abbas Jafari Dolatabadi announced that Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei has agreed to pardon 100 prisoners of security offences.
Dolatabadi said that the convicted persons had requested for pardon and had felt remorse for their committed offences.
Article 110 of the Constitution grants the Supreme Leader the right to pardon or reduce the sentences of convicts upon a recommendation from the head of the Judiciary.
