S. Korea condemns casino attack in Mexico

SEOUL, Aug. 28 (Yonhap) -- South Korea on Sunday strongly condemned the arson attack last week in Mexico where suspected drug gangs set fire to a casino and killed more than 50 people.
"The government strongly condemned the casino attack in Mexico as a crime against civilization and humanity that cannot be justified on any grounds," the foreign ministry said in a statement.
Armed assailants burst into the casino building in the northern Mexican city of Monterrey on Thursday and set it on fire. The attack shocked Mexico, which has endured a brutal war with powerful drug cartels.
South Korea also offered "its deepest condolences and consolation to the innocent victims and their families," it said.
Vice Foreign Minister Kim Jae-shin will visit Mexico on Monday and deliver the statement to the Mexican government, it said.
