Samsung C&T wins US$415 mln in orders from Singapore, Vietnam


SEOUL, Aug. 29 (Yonhap) -- Samsung C&T Corp., a South Korean trading and construction company, said Monday that it has clinched two orders worth US$415 million to build a subway segment in Singapore and a port facility in Vietnam.
Under a deal valued at $212 million with Singapore's Land Transportation Authority, Samsung C&T will construct a section of the 21-kilometer Downtown Line Stage 3, including a 683-meter underground tunnel and a station.
The South Korean builder previously won an order for the Southeast Asian country's subway project in May.
Another $203 million contract with Formosa Ha Tinh Steel Corp., the Vietnamese steel unit of Taiwan's Formosa Group, calls for building the seaport facility for the steelmaker's mill in the central province of Ha Tinh, said the builder.
Shares of Samsung C&T were trading at 73,200 won ($68) on the Seoul bourse as of 2:20 p.m.
