Iranian Kickboxers Crowned as World Champions

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran's kickboxing team won the title in the World Kickboxing Association World Championships in Germany after bagging several medals.
Iranian kickboxers have pocketed a total number of 16 medals - eight gold, three silver and five bronze medals - to claim the championship of the 2011 world cup in German city of Karlsruhe on Sunday.

Akbar Karimi in the +90-kilogram category, Ahmad Nikkar in the -60-kilogram, Hamzeh Moradian in the -65-kilogram, Hossein Hayati in the -70-kilogram, Jamshid Asghar Givehchi in the -75-kilogram, Hossein Alizadeh in the -85-kilogram, and Mojtaba Hosseini in the -90-kilogram categories won gold for the Islamic Republic.

Nahid Moqaddam also won a gold medal in the -50-kilogram category of the women's competitions.

Iranian women fighters Mahsa Samadi in the -55- kilogram, Hadiseh Nouhi in the -60-kilogram, and Fataneh Bahmani in the -65-kilogram categories won the silver medals of the Iranian team.

Nouhi also won a bronze and Marjan Amini-Kaveh grabbed two bronze medals in different sections of the event.

Mehran Cheriki and Majid Karimaei claimed two other bronze medals for Iran at the world event.
