Official: Iran to Continue Fight against PJAK Terrorists

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran will continue military operations against the Iraq-based armed opposition group, PJAK (Party for a Free Life in Kurdistan), an Iranian provincial official announced.
Deputy Governor-General of Kordestan province Iraj Hassanzadeh made the remarks, and said that fighting against the terrorist PJAK group will continue until its complete annihilation.

"No country in the world accepts a group of mercenaries create a chaotic atmosphere in that country. Islamic Republic of Iran like all other countries considers confronting terrorist groups as its legitimate right," he added.

Referring to the international agreements that have been accepted by all countries, Hassanzadeh noted that the Islamic Republic of Iran does not allow the opposition groups and terrorist organizations of the neighboring countries to conduct their activities in Iran.

"Iran also expects the neighboring countries to prevent similar activities by groups and terrorist organizations trying to destabilize the security in Iran," he added.

The Iranian official called on the Iraqi government and Iraq's Kurdistan territory officials to prevent the activities of PJAK and other similar counterrevolutionaries inside Iraq.

Addressing certain European countries claiming to be supporters of human rights, Hassanzadeh noted that those European countries which have paved the grounds for activities of terrorist organization should also consider the rights of the families who have lost their children and family members as a result of the activities of certain terrorist organizations.

In July, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) arrested several teams of PJAK (Party for a Free Life in Kurdistan), who intended to infiltrate Iran to stage terrorist operations in the country.

About 5,000 military forces were deployed in the Northwestern parts of the country along its joint border with the Iraqi Kurdistan region. During the operations, the IRGC forces killed, injured and arrested tens of terrorists and destroyed their headquarters in the bordering areas of Alvatan near Sardasht city in Northwestern Iran.

PJAK, a militant Kurdish nationalist group with bases in the mountainous regions of Northern Iraq, has been carrying out numerous attacks in Western Iran, Southern Turkey and the Northeastern parts of Syria where the Kurdish populations live.

The separatist group has been fighting to establish an autonomous state, or possibly a new world country, in the area after separating Kurdish regions from Iran, Iraq, Turkey and Syria.

Iranian intelligence and security officials have repeatedly complained that Washington provides military support and logistical aids for such anti-Iran terrorist groups.
