Equal opportunities - major value of Kazakhstan's Constitution

30/8 Tass 108

ASTANA, August 30 (Itar-Tass) -- Kazakhstan's Constitution has
provided equal opportunities for all people of the country, and this is
its major value, Kazakhstan's President Nursultan Nazarbayev said as he
greeted the nation on the Constitution Day at the opening of a military
parade on Tuesday.
The country is approaching an outstanding historic event - the 20th
anniversary of its independence /on December 16/, he said. "The
Constitution Day has a special position in the chain of festive events."
"The Constitution is a base for Kazakhstan's successful way in the XXI
century - it is creation of the nation's will," he said. "Due to the Main
Law we have overcome successfully the edge of historic eras, and it is for
the first time in history that Kazakhstan has a stable, strong and booming
state."
"Kazakhstan's citizens live in peace and freedom under the standard of
independence," and "they have built a new country together."
"Over 20 years only, we have made successful economy: Kazakhstan is
among 50 most dynamically developing countries in the world," the
president said. "All cities, districts and villages open new hospitals,
new schools, and even in the global economic crisis we raise wages and
pensions."
"All our successes have been achieved due to the unanimity, accord in
the society, to our firm compliance with the major values of the country's
Constitution."
Kazakhstan is the only country which organises a military parade on
its Constitution Day, Nazarbayev said.
"This is our unique tradition, which shows both might of the state,
our peaceful achievements, and unanimity and accord in the society," he
concluded.
The parade features soldiers of the Armed Forces and combat arms -
about 2,500 servicemen, 130 arms and military equipment, as well as more
than 60 aircrafts and helicopters. The present event is specific for
showing certain units and equipment for the first time.
Kazakhstan's acting Constitution was adopted at the national
referendum on August 30, 1995. This day is the national holiday.
