Seoul shares up 0.21 pct in late-morning trade

SEOUL, Aug. 31 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks traded 0.21 percent higher late Wednesday morning on overnight U.S. rallies but gains were limited amid investor concern over slowing industrial output growth here, analysts said.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) climbed 3.87 points to 1,847.69 as of 11:20 a.m.
LG Electronics jumped 2.5 percent and leading carmaker Hyundai Motor rose 0.76 percent. But market bellwether Samsung Electronics dropped 1.8 percent and leading steelmaker POSCO sank 0.12 percent.
South Korea's industrial output expanded 3.8 percent last month from a year earlier, the slowest pace since September 2010 when it rose 2.9 percent.
The local currency was changing hands at 1,071.05 won to the greenback, up 0.55 won from Tuesday's close.
