Works by Russian authors are centerpiece at Beijing book fair

BEIJING, August 31 (Itar-Tass) - The 18th Beijing international book
fair opens here on Wednesday and will run until September 4.
The Russian exhibition stand will feature works by contemporary
Russian authors, Russian classics, as well as instructional manuals for
the study of Russian as a foreign language.
An official at the organizing committee of the book fair has told
Itar-Tass that the Russian stand has been arranged by the Federal Agency
for Print and Mass Media. The Russky Mir (Russian World) Foundation and
the Igra Slov (play on words) publishing firm, as well as the
International Pokoleniye (generation) Foundation are participating in the
Russian book exhibition.
The international Beijing book fair has been held since 1986. Last
year, it drew more than 1,800 representatives from 58 countries.
