Icons of Rock exhibition to feature unique photos at filmfest


VLADIVOSTOK, August 31 (Itar-Tass) - An Icons of Rock exhibition will
feature unique photos of the Beatles and the Rolling Stones at the 9th
international Pacific Meridian film festival of countries in the
Asia-Pacific Region.
The festival will be held in Vladivostok from September 10 to 16.
Those will be 25 black-and-white photographs of British film director
Leslie Woodhead, with many of them being put on display for the first
time, an official at the management office of the film festival has told
Itar-Tass.
At the festival, a special documentary film program "Music that
Changed Us" will be devoted to the creative activity of Leslie Woodhead.
It comprises four films made in different years: "Save Jazz"- a film about
the famous jazz photographer Herman Leonard, "Comrade Rock Star.
Unbelievable Experience" -- about the life of American singer Dean Reed;
"The Beatles in the Kremlin", with members of the"Soviet generation"
describing music and musicians that changed their lives, and the film "The
Rolling Stones in Hyde Park" about the most famous concerts of the
performing group in the 1960s.
Four large exhibitions are on the program of the festival, all in all.
For the first time, prominent film actor Vincent Perez, who is, besides, a
professional photographer, will show the public at large photos entitled
"From Vladivostok to Paris".
An invariable participant in the festival, Artemy Troitsky, has
prepared an exhibition of American painting "Farther and Farther East".
Visitors to the VladiVOSTORG" (Russian acronym for Vladivostok and
delight) exhibition will be able to admire works by young painters of
Primorye (maritime territory).
This year, 170 full- and short-length films from 40 countries will be
shown at the weeklong Pacific Meridian film festival, which has been held
in Vladivostok since 2003. It is organized by the Primorsky (maritime)
Territory administration under the auspices of the Russian Ministry of
Culture.
