Marudai shipped 5,060 bags of products feared tainted in Sept

OSAKA, Sept. 21 Kyodo - Marudai Food Co. said Sunday it has shipped a total of around 5,060 bags of five products suspected of containing the toxin melamine to at least 240 retailers across Japan since Sept. 1.

The announcement came a day after the company said it had begun recalling the five products made from tainted milk supplied by a major Chinese dairy company.

The products in question include pastries and steamed meat buns.
Marudai said it will swiftly remove the products from major supermarket stores
and other retailers.
The major manufacturer of ham and sausages also said it will suspend operations
at a factory in China that processed and manufactured three of the five
products while checks are conducted.
The September tally brought the number of bags of the five products shipped by
Marudai since April to more than 7,800.
Marudai said Saturday that it shipped a total of around 2,800 bags of the
products from April to August.
Marudai, based in Takatsuki, Osaka Prefecture, is listed on the First Section
of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
