Close battles anticipated in triple jump, high jump

DAEGU, Sept. 1 (Yonhap) -- Six finals are scheduled for Thursday, and each of them should be closely fought.
In women's triple jump, defending champion Yargelis Savigne of Cuba is tied with Colombian Catherine Ibarguen this year at 14.99 meters. They are merely centimeters ahead of Ukraine's Olha Saladukha and Kazakhstan's Olga Rypakova.
Russia will go for a medal sweep in men's high jump, with Aleksey Dmitrik, Aleksandr Shustov and Ivan Ukhov lined up. The U.S. jumper Jesse Williams will try to prevent the sweep.
