MOFA officials learn climate change and flood management

Vientiane,aug 31. (KPL)- More than 150 officials of the Lao Foreign Institute and EU-America Department of Ministry of Foreign Affairs have learnt about climate change and flood management.
The seminar on “Climate Change and Flood Management” was under the support of the U.S Embassy in Laos held at the International Cooperation and Training Centre (ICTC) on 31 August.
The event was lectured by Mrs. Shana L. Udavardy, Director of Flood Management Policy at American Rivers Organisation.
Taking part at the function were Head of Foreign Institute, Mrs. Khampao Ouenthavanh, Directors and Deputy Directors of Departments and technical staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Relation of Party Central Committee and the U.S Embassy.
The lecture was aimed to transfer the knowledge on flood management, natural disaster impact and climate change happening in many countries worldwide and also the Lao PDR.
The climate change has severely devastated and posed a threat to the livelihoods and prosperity of human being worldwide. Before some countries hadn’t experienced in the flood and storm but now those countries have suffered from flood, consequence to the climate change.
She highlighted how to manage flood in the USA and Flood Management Policy of the American Rivers Organization has been established for 40 years.
